General hints and tips
Eek, Pkers
When hunting on your own side, always be on -monsters. Noone will be able to kill you then by normal means.
When hunting in neutral or enemy grounds, and a pker is coming after you, log off.
Don't try and run, don't try and fight back unless you sure you'll win.
Just log off, perhaps go on another character and ask for help or just wait till the pker decides to leave, which often is pretty fast.
Baggies
Always wear bags. They're cheap, and your armour, if not all NDNT, probably isn't. Wearing 2 bags is even better.
Better Safe then Sorry.
When propping, and carying stuff worth over 50 gold, equip a redo. You rather lose a redo then lose stuff worth more then that redo.
Wear lsa's instead of redo's if you don't have too much money.
When dying by redo, you lose the stuff you have in the inventory, sure, but ask as linkmember to help you get up and retrieve your stuff. It isn't the best option, but its certainly the cheapest.
Sanct Scrolls/Max Amulets/Almus
Get it. When you should have died you don't. This can help prevent dying and make for a quick getaway. Of course sometimes you still die due to overpowering monsters/pkers
Karma is a bitch.
If you pk all the time, you'll eventually be pked all the time. Also, a lot of "newbies" have high level alts, who don't take to kind to you pking their newbies.
Karma is kind.
Do good things, and good things will happen for you. Well its xenimus so that aint always so. But just remember every newbie has a chance of being a super player later. And sometimes they will help you later because you helped getting them started.
Don't be stupid.
This should be obvious, but it isn't. Don't go pking if you suck and will probably die. Don't be on -enemies/-all when using storage. Don't think you are tough and jump in the middle of fights with people that kill you in 1 hit. Don't attack guards that kill you in 1 hit. Don't go wandering around the map without expecting to get killed when low level. The list goes on and on.
Junk
The -Junk command, learn to love it when out hunting. How it works? Well it drops stuff below the treasure level you set. Experiment a bit in a safe place with it. My junkcommand is for example:
-junk 35 pot amu scr shon ring
Asking for help is not a shame
Begging is though. A lot of people would help you with quests and questions, but most are rather fond of what they worked for and you hope to get without any effort at all. So asking people nicely to help you with stuff is ok, begging isn't.

If you ever hope to get that high level stuff you want, you better start learning how to trade. Hanging around at cons and trading forums should help you learn it.
